Sliding windows – will an air conditioning unit fit?
It's never good to start with unfortunately but... with a sliding window (something featured in the doors of many converted panel vans PVCs (Panels Van Conversions) any brackets hanging over the bottom of the opening are going to stop you from closing the window.
Hanging a CMC unit on an open window means the internal fan will draw in warm, moist air from outside through the cooling fins thereby reducing the efficiency. It will still provide cool air but is far from ideal.
So have any of our customers found a workable solution?
The unit is a split pack a/c unit and the brackets were designed to suspend the external condenser unit from a caravan style window. The internal unit can either be held in the window opening or positioned on a table or worktop. That said we have some ingenious owners who have come up with unique ways to support the unit without hanging it from a window utilising tables, bike racks or caravan towing frames.
If it helps you make a decision we can send a set of brackets for you to look at and see if you can find a solution with your vehicle. Alternatively, you can come and try out a unit in your van if you visit us at Cool My Camper Towers.
